Four students of State Polytechnic of Bengkalis (Polbeng) participated in the \"Sakura Science Program Student Exchange\" sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to visit the country of sakura, specifically Yamaguchi University in Ube City, Japan. M. Fajrianto, M. Syafik, Aldi Muammar and Eka Aprianti are the four Civil Engineering Department students, while five others are Civil Engineering Department students of Riau University. The visit, which was held from March 1-6, was carried out as a follow-up to the collaboration between Polbeng and Yamaguchi University that have been carried out since 2015 including joint research and overseas training programs in civil engineering.

On this occasion, students participated in lecture activities on measuring the velocity of underground water flow and its application in engineering, as well as practiced on preparing a groundwater flow velocity measuring tool while carrying out measurements using the prepared tool. It should be noted that the velocity measuring tool is one of the measuring tools that has been granted a patent in Japan as the innovation’s result from Sensei Koichi Yamamoto P.hd.

\"Polbeng really appreciates the ongoing Sakura Science Student Exchange Program and hopes that students will gain more knowledge and experience by participating in the program, as well as insight and motivation in learning.\" said Armada, Head of the Civil Engineering Department as well as who accompanied the students in the program.
