Visiting Bengkalis, UiTM Malaysia Group participate in Various Activities with Polbeng

After arriving in Bengkalis on Monday afternoon, the UiTM (Universitas Teknologi Mara) group, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, carried out a number of community service activities at State Polytechnic of Bengkalis (Polbeng) on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.

Following the morning exercise, the UiTM group immediately headed to mangrove planting activities in Air Putih, Bengkalis. The participants planted approximately 200 mangrove tree seedlings.

Along with the 110 students and 20 assistants group from UiTM, the event was attended by Vice Director III Teguh Widodo, Head of P3M Akmal Indra, Head of P4MP Razali, as well as heads of departments, lecturers and Polbeng staff, as well as AKBP Yusup Rahmanto as the Head of Bengkalis Police, Representatives of Kodim 0303/ Bengkalis, Sector Police of Bengkalis, and Air Putih Village’s residents.

After planting the mangroves, the group was then taken to a number of historical places in Bengkalis, including the Tomb of Panglima Minal. Specifically, the Tomb of King Pematang Siantar Sang Naualuh Damanik in Senggoro Village, historic tombs and museums in Parit Bangkung Village, Bengkalis.

Then it was continued by visiting and studying Zapin at Meskom which is the Bengkalis zapin village.
Mustazam, Director of UiTM Sport, said that they were incredibly proud because State Polytechnic of Bengkalis agreed to the interaction of the two parties and this activity will also strengthen the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia.

“Various activities have been prepared. We hope that students will interact not only during this program, but also in the future,\" Mustazam said.

Meanwhile, one of the UiTM students, Syamsul, a final semester student of the UiTM Health Science Department, admitted that he was surprised when he first arrived in Bengkalis.

\"The warm welcome and friendliness of the State Polytechnic of Bengkalis’ community make us feel at home. We hope this activity can strengthen relations between the two countries,\" he said, smiling. (IRM)
